ACT304 - Major Project 01 (20 Credits) - Michael Campbell

Hand Made Food

“As chefs we wish to celebrate the growing of food and the good rearing of livestock in as direct a manner as possible, that is, by cooking it.
We cook with organic and free range meats and we know all the farmers who are in the south east. We buy seasonal organic and farmers market veg for our taiteur and event food.
We have a strong desire to support those who cultivate the land using ecologically ethical means - against a social background of agrochemicals devastation of the soil and ruthless manipulation of the food market. The happiness of the journey from land to plate is important to us.”

Introduction

Hand Made Food is a Traiteur based in Blackheath. The shop sells food cooked on the premises it also stocks produce from select suppliers, it has a seating area upstairs and outside. When the chefs are not cooking for the shop they could be cooking for outside catering. Hand Made Food's business is centered around the shop/Traiteur although their main business is catering for events such as wedding and birthdays.

Aims

The Student is to design and build Hand Made Food a website that is an extension of their business. The Website needs to be an accurate reflection of their business; It and any functions it may have must be compatible with Hand Made Foods customers, staff and brand image.

The student should organise and take on research to inform and support the design decisions, The design should also be tested. Initial consultations indicated that a content management system may be required, the student is to research if this is necessary and design accordingly.

This is paid work, So the student will need to arrange a contract with the client (HMF) and the website will need to be 'live' before assessment.
